Our Classroom

Clasroom Rules

Welcome to first grade! In order for us to have a great year, it is important for us to establish a set of rules for the classroom. Also, the children have to understand what will happen if they choose not to follow our classroom and school rules.

These are the rules for our class and all of Blackstone School:
****Take turns
****Everyone listens
****Always do your best
****Make good choices
If your child chooses to break a rule, these are the consequences:
1st time: Child will receive a verbal warning.
2nd time: Child will move stick to "yellow". This is also a warning.
3rd time: Child will move stick to "red" and will lose an entire recess the following day. Parents will receive a note.
4th time: Child will move stick off the chart. Child will lose both morning and lunch recess the following day. Parents will receive a note.
5th time: Child will lose both morning and lunch recess the following day. Child will discuss behavior with the principal. Parents will receive a note.

*Parents will be informed of behavior only if student is on red or if they have been moved off the chart. If a note is sent it will be in the child's take home folder. This note will need to be signed and returned.
*Every student will start each day with his or her stick on green.
*Students that choose to follow the rules will receive many different forms of positive reinforcement such as praise, certificates, free time etc. Students will also have the opportunity to earn special treats such as a popcorn party or a movie party.
